Alma Rosa Najera had this invitation made for the community of Ejido el Porvenir and surrounding areas for next week’s shoe box event on December 9th. The excitement is building! Remember the photos of the big crowd last year!
The UCLA donation of shirts and jackets is a gift that keeps on giving. This is part of our Ninos outreach program. They made their way to Loreto to the rehab basketball team so they now have uniforms. Thanks to our courier Carlos Carreon .Our understanding is the team was thrilled. UCLA may now be the most popular U.S. college in Baja! When they all find homes there will be hundreds of folks wearing them!
From our very own Missions Director, Michael Yeaman: “I was reminded intensely today why Ninos de Baja is here, and why this work is so important. I met our three new siblings in the morning – our three month old baby suffering from terrible physical abuse, her 2 year old brother worn out from crying and their 12 year old sister trying to make sense of her new life and take care of the little ones. This afternoon – the baby is cooing, brother is running with the boys in the yard, and big sister is skating, laughing and getting hugs from the other girls in the house. This is why.
From board member Dale Blankenship who is also Ninos resident bike specialist and computer guru, “There was a neighborhood yard sale in Maricopa, and my friend Michael asked for unsold bicycles to be donated to Ninos de Baja, the children’s home in Mexico that I work with. He received thirteen (13!) bikes, which I picked up today. Many were the 20-inch boys bikes which we especially needed after six were stolen from behind a six-foot chain link fence. I’m going to be busy making repairs and getting these ready!” Very blessed with the great work he does.
